Apprenticeships & Traineeships

Earn an income and gain a qualification by undertaking an Apprenticeship or Traineeship, both include paid employment to gain hands on experience on the job, as well as  undertaking a study to gain a certificate. An apprenticeship is usually 3-4 years and in a trade based area, such as carpentry, plumbing or commercial cookery. A traineeship is usually 1 year in a non-trade area such as business administration, outdoor recreation or youth work.

Becoming an AFL Umpire

It doesn’t matter who you are, if you want to be involved in football, then Umpiring can be a very rewarding experience. Some female Umpires have even umpired WAFL and AFL matches! There are many opportunities at all levels of football, to become an Umpire! Umpiring rates start at $26 for a 40 minute 9’s game, and can reach $295 for a WAFL League game. And when you think that you can be paid more than $90,000 a year as an AFL Umpire, then it is a lot better than paying for a gym membership!
